public relations

Sharon Niederman’s extensive public relations experience began with her first job out of college, as assistant to the director of public relations for ABC Network News in New York City. Since then, she has served as Director of Public Relations for the State Bar of New Mexico and the Mid-Rio Grande Chapter of the American Red Cross. She has also done public relations and promotion work for clients such as the New Mexico Endowment for the Humanities and the City of Taos, and recently, the historic St. James Hotel in Cimarron, NM. As Director of Public Relations and Copy for Mediaworks in Albuquerque, she added ad agency experience to her background of corporate and non-profit public relations work. Her most recent public relations position was with the New Mexico Heritage Preservation Alliance, writing about and promoting preservation success stories.

“I enjoy seeing the positive press generated for clients’ worthwhile projects,” she says. “The goodwill, public recognition and economic stimulus that result from my efforts are very satisfying.

“Having worked on both sides of the fence — as editor and as marketer — makes me very aware of the needs of both the client and the news organization. I enjoy serving as liaison between the two and facilitating long-term positive relationships that often develop as the result of a thoughtful, solid public relations campaign.”
